Juventus Interested in PSG Defender After Social Media Rant

Presnel Kimpembe is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2023 but his brother’s harsh words after the 2-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund last Tuesday could lead to the club moving on from the France international at the end of the season.

Kimpembe has since apologized to manager Thomas Tuchel for his brother’s post-match rant but according to Leggo (via Le10Sport), the incident may be the turning point in Juventus FC’s pursuit of the center-back.

We know Juventus has an affinity for PSG players. In recent years, they have signed Blaise Matuidi and Adrien Rabiot and the two clubs were close to exchanging Layvin Kurzawa and Mattia De Sciglio last month before the deal ultimately collapsed.

Juventus already have a young, promising center-back in Matthijs de Ligt but Giorgio Chiellini is 35-years-old and Leonardo Bonucci is 32. The Turin-based club could use a talented, young defender like Kimpembe in their ranks.

For PSG, they will likely lose 35-year-old Thiago Silva at the end of the season when his contract expires. With Marquinhos moving into the midfield, that leaves PSG weak at the back and it’s unlikely they will want to lose Kimpembe even if his brother said some pretty horrible things about Tuchel. Plus, Kimpembe came up through the PSG ranks and he is a Parisian in every sense of the word.

I wouldn’t put a lot of credence in this transfer rumor but I suppose we’ve seen stranger things happen.
