Tevez Discusses the Possibility of Barcelona-Linked Di Maria Making a Return to Rosario Central

Carlos Tevez held his introductory press conference with Rosario Central on Tuesday. The former forward was recently named the new manager of the Argentine club, which came a year after he played in the final match of his professional career.

During the press conference, Tevez was asked about the possibility of now-former Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Angel Di Maria joining Rosario Central. For the moment, Tevez is not ruling out the possibility of seeing the current Argentine international make a return to his boyhood club.

“I haven’t spoken to Di Maria,” Tevez said. “I barely have time to speak to my wife. I haven’t spoken to her.

“But who wouldn’t like to have him? Fideo means a lot to this club. When the situation calms down, I’ll call him and ask him what he wants to do.

“We know him. He would bring a lot. He would bring his experience to young players. In addition to experience, he has great technical quality. He has played in the biggest clubs, it would be easy to be his trainer.”

As of late, Di Maria has been linked with clubs such as Barcelona and Juventus for a free transfer move. However, he has opened up before that he would welcome the possibility of one day signing with Rosario Central — a club at which he spent two seasons with before he opted to make a move to Benfica.

For now, Barca and Juventus club officials sure are waiting for Di Maria’s final decision on which club he will elect to join as a free agent.
