PSG’s €20M Talent Didn’t Hesitate to Reject Interest from Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele had some late interest from Chelsea as the 24-year-old was on the verge of completing his move to the French capital from RB Leipzig.

The Blues were hopeful of hijacking the move to help rebuild their backline that has seen various players depart. However, in an interview with French publication L’Equipe (via Metro), Mukiele had no plans of ditching PSG.

“Honestly, no,” Mukiele said. “Once I’d given my word to Luis Campos… at no moment did I hesitate. Luis Campos focused on the idea that I would be in a team where the collective is the most important thing.”

“He spoke to me about attitude, mentality, about these new things he wants to put into place. He knows my mentality, I am a warrior, when I’m on the pitch I fight for everyone. That’s what I’m going to do here.”

The France international heads to his hometown as he was born in the eastern suburbs of Paris, so perhaps the pull of being home and playing for a club that’s challenging for the UEFA Champions is too much to pass up.

Mukiele will be challenging for minutes at right-back and has the flexibility to play at central defense where the current Ligue 1 champions are switching to a backline of three under new manager Christophe Galtier.

Last season, the defender appeared in 38 fixtures, scoring two goals and recording five assists for RB Leipzig.
