Video: What Juninho Credits for Neymar’s Early Season Success

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. is off to a fantastic start to his 2022-23 season. The 30-year-old has six goals and six assists in four Ligue 1 fixtures and is playing like a man on a mission to prove doubters wrong.

During a segment on Monday’s edition of RMC Sport’s “Rothen s’enflamme,” the program welcomed former Director of Football for Olympique Lyonnais Juninho where they asked him about Neymar’s start to the season.

“I find [Neymar] more focused,” Juninho said. “… He is thinking calmly. He is already 30 years old. Well, it’s not old, but 30 years old is more like a kid who holds back, isn’t it? So I think he’s more focused.”

Additionally, Juninho touched on the 2022 FIFA World Cup and what it represents for Neymar, who faces the pressure of ending Brazil’s 20-year drought.

“… He’s one of the best players in the world. He did wonderful things, but I think he will do everything to make a great World Cup because maybe it will be the last for him,” Juninho added.

“Unfortunately, Brazil is criticized a lot, and I think they deserve it. He deserves it because if you see his numbers with the Brazil national team, it’s unbelievable.”
