Galtier Drops a Key Update on Possibility of Two Midfield Additions Featuring vs. Brest

Paris Saint-Germain bolstered its midfield over the recent summer transfer window, which included the additions of Fabian Ruiz from Napoli and Carlos Soler from Valencia.

Ruiz still has yet to make his PSG debut, although he was on the bench for its UEFA Champions League home group stage fixture against Juventus. On the other hand, Soler featured in the clash with Juventus, as he played in 10 minutes of the contest.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Brest, Galtier was asked for an update on the two midfield additions, where he noted that they are each a candidate to earn a start in the match.

“They are already happy to be here,” Galtier said. “They had wanted to join us for some time. I’ll start with Carlos Soler, who has rhythm. He had a normal preparation, and he played his last game with Valencia 10 days ago. … He is a high-level player, very intelligent. It’s going to happen quickly.

“Concerning Fabian, he had a very frustrated preparation. He played very little in the last few weeks because we thought he was going to join us sooner. He didn’t want to start the championship with Napoli, so he trained separately for 15-20 days, so there is a little delay in the rhythm because he was out of the group during this period and he trained alone. He is working a little harder than the others to find a more sustained rhythm. Obviously, they are available to start the game against Brest.”

Galtier could end up resting several of his regular starters for the league contest against Brest, especially as PSG will return to Champions League action next week with an away group stage matchup against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
