Commissioner Reveals Thoughts About Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo Heading to MLS

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are competing at the 2022 FIFA World hoping to win the one trophy that has eluded them in their career. Still, once the tournament is over, the two will need to think again about their future.

Manchester United has parted ways with Ronaldo; meanwhile, Messi will become a free agent when his contract expires in June.

As a result, there are plenty of rumors linking the two to a move to MLS, and the league’s commissioner, Don Garber, commented on the potential of Messi and Ronaldo coming to the United States.

“I had just questions about David [Beckham] for ten years, and finally, I don’t have to talk about it anymore, and now we’re talking about Lionel Messi,” Garber said. “Listen, I think that it tells a good story, and it’s both at the top of our rosters and at the bottom of our rosters …

“So the Messi-Ronaldo chat is good, but the real story is what we call the meat and potatoes. It’s not the cherry on the cake, but it’s really the things that make Major League Soccer, you know, the great league that we are today. And the best, I think, is yet to come.”
