‘We Do Not Hide It’ – PSG President Confirms Having Discussions for Manchester United Star Forward This Past Summer

Many transfer rumors had Paris Saint-Germain connected to them this past summer and one of the more prominent ones was the capital club linked to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

Rashford’s contract expires in 2023, but a renewal clause can extend the deal until 2024, giving The Red Devils more time to negotiate with the 25-year-old and his representatives.

Nonetheless, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed in an interview with Sky Sports (h/t Paris Fans) that the capital club was indeed in on the Manchester United forward.

“Rashford is another really amazing player,” Al-Khelaifi said. “And for free? To get Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely. We do not hide it, we spoke before and there was an interest. But the timing was not a good one for either side.

“Maybe, in summer, why not? Today, if he’s a free agent, of course, we can talk to him directly, but we’re not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then after January, hopefully, if we’re interested, we’ll talk to him.”

Over the summer, PSG was looking for a striker that could take the responsibility from Kylian Mbappe, who wants a more free role on the team. Eventually, a move never occurred for Rashford, who has performed well under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 side added Hugo Ekitike this summer but is rumored to still be in on another striker as reports like the capital club to Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.
