Serie A: The Reported Reasons Why Inter Milan Kept Milan Skriniar, Didn’t Sell to PSG

Paris Saint-Germain and Milan Skriniar pushed for the 27-year-old to arrive during the January transfer window rather than wait until the summer.

Skriniar has already agreed to a pre-contract with the French giants, but the two parties wanted to accelerate their commitment. However, Inter Milan didn’t want to let the player leave without proper compensation.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday, citing sources, that the Serie A side never received a new offer from PSG for Milan Skrinar after their €7 million plus €3 million in bonuses proposal.

Inter Milan reportedly wanted €20 million to let the Slovakian defender exit last month. However, neither of the two sides was able to reach an agreement.

Additionally, Inter Milan’s inability to find a potential replacement also played a role in the Italian giants not letting Skriniar leave this past transfer window.

The central defender will now play out the final six months of his contract with Inter Milan and manager Simone Inzaghi stated that there will be no issues with Skriniar. Nonetheless, there’s one change: The center-back will no longer be wearing the captain’s armband for the club.
