What Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe Discussed After Argentina Defeated France in 2022 World Cup Final

Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe put on a show during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It’s been over a month since the two battled for the top prize in international football and the 35-year-old is revealing some details from the contest.

The veteran goal scorer spoke with Ole and discussed what he said to Mbappe when the 24-year-old arrived from his vacation at the Camp des Lodges. Messi noted that the two discussed what went on after the match rather than the game itself.

“Yes, we talked about the game, the festivities, how people had lived in Argentina in those days that I had been on vacation and the festivities we had,” Messi told the Argentine outlet. “And nothing, nothing more, but good, really good.”

Additionally, Messi noted that he didn’t have to avoid talking about the game itself despite Mbappe coming on the losing end of the matchup between the two PSG star players.

“No, even one does not want to talk and bring up the subject of the final and talk about it,” Messi continued. “I was on the other side too, I had to lose a world final as well and I didn’t want to know anything about that, about what had happened. And nothing that had to do with the World Cup at that time, that’s why I don’t want to talk about it either. But the truth is that there is no problem with Kylian, quite the opposite.”

Both players put on a show that not many football fans will forget since it saw Mbappe score twice late in the contest to tie the game. Afterward, the France international would complete the hat-trick by scoring a penalty kick in extra time.

Meanwhile, Messi scored a brace as the Argentine knew he had to influence the game if he wanted to win. Nonetheless, it’s a World Cup final that not many will forget.
