Achraf Hakimi Should Be Available for PSG-Bayern Munich Despite Rape Indictment

Achraf Hakimi is in serious legal trouble as the Paris Saint-Germain right-back was indicted for rape. The 24-year-old was heard Thursday by the Hauts-de-Seine territorial security investigators, then indicted by an investigating judge and placed under judicial supervision.

While the defender addresses the allegations through the legal system, his indictment doesn’t necessarily mean he can only participate in matches in France. RMC Sport reported (h/t Paris Fans) on Friday that there’s no obstacle preventing Hakimi from playing abroad.

Hakimi’s judicial review forbids him to contact the alleged victim. However, it does not mention any ban on leaving the territory, which should not bother him for the trip to Munich for the UEFA Champions League next week.

Additionally, manager Christophe Galtier commented on Hakimi’s availability for the second leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Allianz Arena.

“He trained individually 48 hours ago due to a World Cup muscle injury,” Galtier told reporters Friday (h/t Canal Supporters). “The goal is for him to be available for the game against Bayern [Munich].”

If PSG advances past Bayern Munich and into the quarterfinals, the topic of Hakimi’s ability to travel abroad will come up again.
