Achraf Hakimi Shouldn’t Be Playing vs. Bayern Munich Due to Legal Issues, Pundit Says

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is in serious legal trouble as the 24-year-old was recently indicted for alleged rape. Nonetheless, he can play in the UEFA Champions League second-leg contest against Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Allianz Arena.

However, Canal Football Club pundit David Ginola believes Hakimi shouldn’t be playing in the match. The Morocco international is dealing with a severe issue and his mind might not be 100 percent on what’s occurring on the pitch.

“Hakimi can be disturbed by his business,” Ginola said (h/t GOAL). “Football players are not robots. We do not erase what is happening in your life [for] 90 minutes. He must be concerned. Galtier’s puzzle there it is to say if he is going to put it knowing that he is not 100 percent or else put someone else.

“Privileging someone else will be in order. And these positions there (of pistons) are important in his system. To have two cooperative and complementary players.”

Nordi Mukiele suffered an Achilles tendon injury in the second half of the 4-2 victory against FC Nantes on Saturday at the Parc des Princes. However, the defender has been deemed fit enough to make the squad for the match against Bayern Munich.

It will be interesting to see what manager Christophe Galtier decides to do in a game that will likely determine his future with the French giants. Mukiele has played well in Hakimi’s absence as he’s dealt with a hamstring injury.
