Danilo Pereira Explains Why PSG ‘Are Ready’ For Second Leg Clash vs. Bayern Munich

Paris Saint-Germain will head into their UEFA Champions League contest against Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Allianz Arena down 1-0 with 90 minutes left in the matchup.

The capital club will need the same performance as they did against Olympique de Marseille last Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome. PSG was able to have a clean sheet and leaned on Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe on the attack.

Ahead of the Bayern Munich matchup, midfielder Danilo Pereira gave an interview with the Agence France-Presse and spoke about the mindset the team will need if they want to advance to the quarterfinals.

“Mentally, we know we weren’t there [in the first leg],” Danilo told the French media outlet (h/t Canal Supporters). “But we have changed. Now, mentally we are ready and physically, everything will be ready too. I think that’s what was missing. The group spoke to each other, not only between us but with the coach and all the staff.

“I think that time passed because we all talked together about what we should do and the things we didn’t do well. If we lose, we are eliminated; if we win, we pass; that’s how we should approach this match [the return match]. We have to go to Munich with the mentality of giving everything, like in Marseille.”

PSG has been in poor form since the return of club football. However, it appears the French giants are turning their “crisis” around.

The Ligue 1 side pulled out a dramatic win over Lille OSC and then handled Marseille for a convincing victory. Nonetheless, PSG hopes that this form will be able to carry over to Europe.
