Lionel Messi, Neyamar, & Marco Verratti Can’t Continue at PSG, Pundit Says

Paris Saint-Germain’s inability to overcome their 1-0 deficit and crash out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 to Bayern Munich has many French media pundits out in full force with their hot takes.

The capital club lost 3-0 over two legs to the German giants and RMC Sports’ Daniel Riolo is demanding profound change at PSG. After the latest Champions League disappointment, Riolo wants the capital club to begin cleaning house.

“In sport, we don’t care about defeats,” Riolo said Wednesday on After Foot RMC. “Defeat is not a problem. There is only one team that will win the Champions League and you lose more often than you win. The problem is how you lose. […] After a while, when you are a PSG supporter and you collect a lot of things and, of course, your mind gets fed up after a while because the digital army maintains false hopes on social networks, after a while, the PSG supporter explodes because he can’t take it anymore and says to himself that he is tired of coming to the stadium to see starlets like [Lionel] Messi and Neymar [Jr.] who have never greeted, who don’t give a damn and have played comedy by playing the sacred union in the last matches.

“We debrief more than a match. We debrief a club that has become the SHAME of Europe! Messi, it is not possible; we cannot continue. Neymar, we cannot continue; [Marco] Verratti, we cannot continue. Marquinhos returned to the field; he had his pants full. It’s over; he can’t take it anymore. He’s freaking out; he can’t play football anymore.”

Additionally, Riolo went into further detail about why he would like to see Verratti, who turned the ball over that resulted in Bayern Munich’s first goal of the contest and made the aggregate score 2-0, exit this summer.

“I don’t like shooting at ambulances; I don’t like doing it. I had little hope of PSG qualifying,” Riolo continued. “But I have to shoot the ambulance [at] Verratti, who has been a square player for years … Lionel Messi, you give him to Inter Miami, you’re doing a great job. Marco Verratti, you send him back to Pescara (his training club) and you’re fine … Verratti will be able to eat his little skewers.

“He will be able to go for a walk by the sea, drink his shots and smoke his cigarettes. He will be calm. He will not bother anyone. And then, he will go and do an urban game with his friends because he is an urban player in the end. I have been saying for years that he is a Verratti urban football player! […] It’s infuriating what I’ve heard for years about him. It’s infuriating! Warren Zaire-Emery is 17 years old and he put him in misery.”

PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos has a lot of work to do and he now has a few months to plot the changes that will occur this summer transfer window. Nonetheless, whatever modifications the club chief intends to make, they need to shake up the core of the team.
