Mbappe Opens Up on What It Would Mean to Move Pass This Former Ballon d’Or Winner In a Historic Goals Leaderboard

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe had his way in the France national team’s 4-0 win over the Netherlands on Friday. The PSG star chipped in with two goals and one assist in the contest, as France opened up its UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with three points.

Mbappe currently sits in fifth place on France’s all-time goals list. PSG’s all-time leader in goals needs a mere four more international goals to move past three-time Ballon d’Or winner Michel Platini for sole possession of fourth place on this leaderboard.

During a press conference on Sunday ahead of France’s Euro 2024 qualifying fixture against Ireland, Mbappe took some time to speak on just what it would mean to move above Platini on this historic goals list.

“It’s an honor, but it’s also the next target to beat,” Mbappe said.

“Platini remains a legend of French football, but I want to continue my journey, and it goes through Michel Platini.”

Overall, Mbappe has so far scored a combined four goals in March with the France national team and PSG.
