Mbappe Speaks On Where It Went Wrong for PSG in the Champions League Elimination vs. Bayern Munich

Paris Saint-Germain’s aspirations of a possible double-winning season came to an end on Wednesday. Bayern Munich clinched a 2-0 win in the second leg of its UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against PSG to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the competition.

PSG did not score a single goal in both legs of its Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, as it tallied a combined eight shots on target in the two contests. Two of these such shots came from Kylian Mbappe, who failed to score at least one goal in a single Champions League knockout stage for the third time in his PSG career.

Speaking after the match (via L’Equipe), Mbappe took some time to note that at the end of the day, Bayern Munich is simply “built” to win the Champions League competition.

“Not much when you look at the state of both teams,” Mbappe said. “They have a great team, they have a great squad, they have a team that is built to win the Champions League. As I said at the beginning of the season, in my first Champions League press conference that we were going to do our maximum. Our maximum, that’s it, that’s the truth.

“We’re going to challenge ourselves and go back to our daily routine, which is the championship.”

PSG will now turn its full attention to the remainder of the ongoing Ligue 1 season. PSG currently holds an eight-point lead atop the Ligue 1 standings.

  1. mBAPP IS OVERRATED, OVERGLORIFIED N OVERHYPED BY THE FRENCH MEDIA. HE HAS NO LEADERSHIP SKILLS EXCEPT A SAD ATTITUDE N SELFISH TO THE CORE, MESSI SPOONFEEDS HIM SO ABUNDANTLY YET HE CANT DELIVER OR CREATE, HAKIMI ALSO NEEDS TO BE LET GO AS WELL AS VERRATI.85% PEOPLE SEE PSG BECAUSE OF MESSI

  2. Let them continue winning their league 1 after all it is where they are good at, Champions League needs a solid team with players who knows what team work entails. The selfishness, greedy and jealous that PSG players are showing on the pitch would lead them nowhere.
