PSG Has Listed Four Managerial Candidates to Replace Galtier This Summer, per Report

Christophe Galtier’s time as Paris Saint-Germain manager is likely ending after the French tactician crashed out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

L’Equipe reported (h/t TyC Sports) that there are four options that the capital club is looking at this summer to replace Galtier. The French media outlet notes that PSG has listed

Zinedine Zidane, José Mourinho, Thiago Motta and Marcelo Gallardo are the prime candidates to take over for the 2023-24 season.

Regarding Zidane and Mourinho, these two names have a resume that speaks for itself and why PSG wants to go after them as they bring UEFA Champions League experience as both managers have won the competition.

Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 side is also open to taking a gamble, which explains their interest in Motta and Gallardo. Motta is experiencing success at Bologna, they’re currently in eighth place, but he’s never coached at a top club where the demand is to win.

As for Gallardo, he’s coached at a major South American club in River Plate, where he was at the helm of a golden era. However, the Argentine has never managed in Europe.

Nonetheless, Motta and Gallardo did spend time at PSG as players, so there’s a connection to the club, which might explain the interest. Regardless, it seems the French giants are preparing for a new voice in the dressing for next season.
