Transfer News: Newcastle Might Revisit Interest in PSG Striker This Summer, per Report

The Hugo Ekitiké signing at Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t gone as planned and it could be one and done for the 20-year-old.

Ekitiké had interest from Newcastle United aside from PSG and it seems the Magpies could revisit this file if the capital club is open to selling. The Northern Echo reported on Thursday that the Premier League side might rekindle its interest in the striker.

PSG agreed to a season-long loan deal for the former Stade de Reims goal scorer and a mandatory clause that will result in them signing him permanently this summer for a fee of around €35 million.

The youngster has failed to establish himself at the capital club and Newcastle’s reported interest in the striker is surprising, considering they currently have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.

However, Newcastle presently holds a UEFA Champions League spot and will need depth for the 2023-24 season to compete in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and in Europe’s top club competition.

It will be interesting to see if the English club revisits the Ekitiké file this summer.
