Signing Thuram Brothers? Journalist Takes Stock on PSG Landing Both Players

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly be in the market for a forward and midfielder this summer transfer window. Two names that have rung loudly are Marcus Thuram and Khephren Thuram.

The two brothers have actually been asked about playing for a major club in France while with the national. As a result, many PSG supporters hope sporting advisor Luis Campos can swing a deal to have them on the same team.

PSG Talk columnist and CBS reporter Jonathan Johnson took stock on how realistic it is for the French giants to secure the two brothers. Johnson began with Marcus first, considering his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expires in June, allowing him to be a free agent.

“Given his age, the attractive price and the fact that he is now part of Didier Deschamps’ setup with Les Bleus, it feels like this would be a smart move regardless of whether or not PSG manage to land [Randal] Kolo Muani,” Johnson wrote on his column

“[Lionel] Messi going will free up some wage space and Thuram should fit into that relatively easily.”

Khephren is in a different situation, as PSG will need to fork over a transfer fee to OGC Nice. The 22-year-old is under contract until 2025 and Transfermarkt puts the midfielder’s value at €32 million; however, securing a deal might take a larger sum.

“Les Parisiens are unlikely to land both [Jean-Clair] Todibo and Thuram, but one or the other would be good and both would tick the French international talent box that will prove to be important this summer,” Johnson continued to write.

“Expect the 22-year-old to command a higher fee than Kone this summer, but his talent justifies that and Nice’s situation should dictate that it cannot rise too high.”
