FC Barcelona swung and missed in their attempt to reunite with Lionel Messi. The 35-year-old opted to leave Europe and sign with MLS side Inter Miami once his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30.
However, the Spanish club could be looking at Plan B, another PSG player, Neymar Jr. SPORT reported on Wednesday that the 31-year-old is being offered to Barcelona.
The Catalan side aims to sign a star that can make a difference on the pitch. As a result, it might explain why the Brazilian is offering himself for a possible return to Barcelona.
Nonetheless, there are issues with Neymar having a second stint at Camp Nou. The PSG star’s salary and the conditions that PSG could impose -even though the capital club will look to move on from him no matter what- would complicate the operation.
PSG has already seen Messi’s wages come off their books, with the Argentine leaving after the 2022-23 season. If Neymar, who’s been linked to a Premier League move, has his salary off their books, it will allow the Ligue 1 side to build a balanced squad around Kylian Mbappé.
