PSG Owners’ Sudden Cooling of Interest Leaves Tottenham High and Dry – Report

Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sports Investments have been attempting to grow its profile by investing in various leagues’ football clubs.

However, one club that might not see investment from QSI is Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. After talks were held in January, the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick reported that PSG’s owners have cooled their interest in Tottenham Hotspur.

QSI is expected to ultimately pursue investment in England as it seeks to build a formidable multi-club model. The Qataris have already secured a minority stake in the Portuguese club Braga.

Furthermore, QSI is linked to possibly purchasing Spanish club Malaga and pursuing a minority investment into Brazilian club Santos FC, where their current star player Neymar Jr. began his first-team career.

It will be interesting to see if Qatar’s quest to purchase Manchester United cooled QSI’s talks with Tottenham or perhaps looking to invest in a top-six Premier League club was too ambitious.

If Qatar whiffs on purchasing the Red Devils, then QSI might revisit investing in an English club in the top six or outside of it.
