Why Marcus Thuram Reportedly Willing to Turn Down Milan, Inter to Join PSG

Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos is using the free-agent market to improve the team heading into the 2023-24 season. The capital club has already landed Milan Škriniar and Marco Asensio, but now they’re coming for Marcus Thuram.

L’Equipe (h/t GOAL France) reported on Tuesday that Thuram is favoring a move to Paris. Although his father, Lilian, would want to see the soon-to-be former Borussia Monchenglädbach star examine other clubs, Inter Milan and AC Milan are knocking on his door.

However, the French media outlet notes that Thuram wants to play in Paris, which is home to him, due to the challenge of winning there and the presence of Kylian Mbappé, who lobbied intensely for him.

Nothing has been concluded yet, but the discussions are progressing well, and the player’s agent would have even put his other files on stand-by to finish this one.

Thuram would also be the first step toward PSG adding more French players who want to bring a UEFA Champions League to their hometown of Paris. Mbappé has remained because he knows what it would mean to his legacy to be the first to get the city that trophy.
