La Liga’s Javier Tebas Gives Bold Take on Kylian Mbappé-Real Madrid Transfer Saga

Over the last few years, La Liga has lost marque players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Karim Benzema. As a result, the Spanish league wants to see Real Madrid land Kylian Mbappé to usher in a new era.

The 24-year-old is playing this 2023-24 season on an expiring contract after opting not to trigger the option to extend his deal until 2025. So the Frenchman could leave PSG as a free agent next summer.

While there’s speculation, La Liga president Javier Tebas believes the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will join Los Blancos in 2024.

“Convinced, no, but it’s destiny for him, that’s for sure,” Tebas said (h/t Foot Mercato). “I think he will be in La Liga next season at 70 or 80 percent.”

It will be interesting to see if this season affects the winger’s decisions regarding his future. PSG has brought players who connect with Mbappé, such as Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani.

Will it be enough for him to stay in his hometown and be at the center of this project? Only the player knows what he intends to do.
