Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni spoke in-depth with French media outlet CANAL+. The 23-year-old noted why he opted not to join Paris Saint-Germain when the Spanish club came calling. However, another subject was, of course, Kylian Mbappé.
Over the summer, Los Blancos were linked to the Frenchman after he opted not to trigger the option to extend his contract until 2025. Nonetheless, a move didn’t occur. As a result, Tchouaméni stated his disappointment not to have the PSG star at Real Madrid.
“Did I hope Mbappé would come to Madrid? Obviously,” Tchouaméni said. “The best players have to play here, and he’s one of them. Sadly, it didn’t happen.”

Still, the La Liga side isn’t giving up their pursuit of the 24-year-old winger. Real Madrid can start pre-contract talks with the forward in January, as his contract expires in June 2024, and sign him to a deal for the 2024-25 season.
The Mbappé saga has been a rollercoaster ride for those following the rumors, so it’s hard to predict what will happen. Regardless, the uncertain future isn’t halting the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, as he’s off to an excellent goal-scoring start.
