Paris Saint-Germain is beginning a new project that puts more faith in the manager rather than looking to make a change every offseason. The capital put its faith in Luis Enrique, and the results are positive so far.
The French club’s strong start in the Champions League is attributed to their Spanish manager. PSG secured a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.
While Enrique and Co. still have work to do in the league, former PSG player Éric Rabesandratana believes the Parisians are heading in the right direction with the 53-year-old.
“Luis Enrique, the providential man of PSG? I think so,” Rabesandratana said on France Bleu Paris (h/t Paris Fans). “I had the feeling that he was the man for the job, and I feel even more so today because his start to the season is very reassuring. I am truly an absolute fan of this man.
“The working framework that he sets up. He is a demanding guy. He sets up the competition, makes the players work, and challenges his group a little because he is able to take the players out of their comfort zone a little.
“He’s really the man we needed because PSG lacked all these values and this working framework. I think that in the past, we haven’t had men who were capable of running a locker room like that and installing all this rigor.”
The Parisians gave the former FC Barcelona boss a two-year contract. Still, they should follow the Liverpool and Manchester City route would be ideal. Both clubs stick with their managers through the good and bad while building their legacy, which is why PSG should strive for.
Perhaps under Enrique, they might finally have that.
