Brazil’s Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Wednesday that Neymar Jr. suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay on Tuesday.
According to ESPN, the former Paris Saint-Germain star is scheduled to have surgery, but the date hasn’t been confirmed yet. The CBF’s medical staff believes the 31-year-old could recover in eight months and participate in the 2024 Copa América, scheduled in the United States next summer.
The Brazilian’s new club, Al-Hilal, created a graphic that confused many. While the messaging is sincere and what supporters expect from any club.
However, the confusion comes from the images they use, a photo of the injury, and the player on a stretcher. Furthermore, the Saudi Arabian club put sponsors on the graphic to make it even more strange.

Later on Wednesday, Neymar said in a message on Instagram he feels “strong,” but he will need a lot of support to return from another injury.
“It’s a very sad moment, the worst,” Neymar wrote. “I know I’m strong but this time I’m going to need my family and friends even more. It’s not easy to go through injury and surgery. Imagine going through it all again after 4 months of recovery.”
