PSG’s Hugo Ekitike Seeks Fresh Start After Mental Health Challenges

Hugo Ekitike will seek a way out of Paris Saint-Germain once the January transfer window opens. The young striker’s name was in the rumor mill this past summer. However, no sale occurred, and he remained at PSG.

Ekitike hasn’t played any football this first half of the 2023-24 season. The former Stade de Reims player is down the striker depth chart behind Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived this past summer.

As a result, the 21-year-old has to leave to get his career back on track. L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that Ekitike has experienced a significant impact on his mental health in the past few weeks, and he’s now determined to actively pursue opportunities with a new club.

PSG is prioritizing a permanent transfer, but they are open to considering a loan arrangement with a buy option. The condition of the loan is that the capital club won’t be responsible for covering his wages, along with a loan fee.

Excitingly, the Ligue 1 side has already received a solid offer from a club, and there is additional interest from German sides. The wheels are in motion for Ekitike’s next chapter in football, and PSG is actively exploring ways to satisfy all parties.
