Arsenal Could View PSG Transfer Target as ‘Too Costly,’ Expert Claims

Next season, Paris Saint-Germain will have to find someone to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappé, as reports suggest the 25-year-old will depart once his contract ends in June. PSG are considering several players as potential replacements and one of the names being mentioned is Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

One of the clubs keen on the Nigerian striker is Arsenal. The Gunners will be in the market for a striker, but could they drop out of the race for Osimhen due to the expensive price tag?

Charles Watts noted in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside that the Premier League side will have to consider the amount that Napoli wants for Osimhen, which is the release clause to be paid.

“It will be interesting to see whether they move for Victor Osimhen,” Watts noted in his column. “He, like Toney, is a player they like and I know that his representatives have visited Arsenal’s training ground for talks with Edu.

“Those talks took place in the summer when Arsenal eventually signed Gabriel Jesus. Jesus was always the priority that year, but Osimhen was definitely a player they viewed as a serious alternative.

“That interest will remain, but the Nigerian could prove to be too costly an option in a summer given Arsenal want to spread their budget around as they look to take the squad to the next level.”

From a PSG perspective, one expert has warned them that the hefty price isn’t worth paying since Osimhen wasn’t a factor in Napoli’s second-leg contest against FC Barcelona, which eliminated the Serie A side.
