Former Barcelona, PSG Star Shares Insights on Luis Enrique’s First Season in Paris

The Luis Enrique era at Paris Saint-Germain has been successful so far in Year 1. The 53-year-old has the capital atop Ligue 1, in the semifinals of the Coupe de France, and in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

With the FIFA break now underway, it allows for some reflection, and one former PSG player likes what he sees from the squad under Enrique. Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho spoke with beIN SPORTS about the Spanish coach’s tenure, who he has been a fan of since their tenure at Barcelona together.

“I really like it,” Ronaldinho said. “Luis and I played together at Barcelona, and I love his way of coaching. I think he has a good philosophy, and I believe he will do well at the club.”

The 43-year-old also noted that the Parisians are heading in the right direction even though they have lost star players like Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.

“Yes, I believe so,” Ronaldinho added. “The club grows a little more every year, and I hope that trend continues and they don’t take too long to win the big prize, meaning the Champions League.”

If PSG and Enrique can win the treble, it will be a major stepping stone in the club’s growth. The capital club has the potential to make the end of the season exciting.

It’s now all about earning it out on the pitch with key matchups against Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals and Stade Rennais in the Coupe de France semifinals.
