Javier Tebas Explains Why Real Madrid Will Have No Issue Paying Kylian Mbappé

When the 2023-24 season concludes, Kylian Mbappé is reportedly on his way to joining Real Madrid as a free agent.

The Paris Saint-Germain star will begin a new journey in a few months. Furthermore, La Liga’s Javier Tebas notes that the Spanish giants will have no issue fitting the Frenchman into their economic payroll.

La Liga’s executive participated this Thursday in the Football Business summit of the Financial Times in London, where, among other topics, he discussed the impact of Bellingham and the future arrival of Mbappé to Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid has had optimal management before, during, and after the pandemic,” Tebas said (h/t Mundo Deportivo). “Madrid has earned an average of €30 million annually for at least the last ten years. I don’t know what they will pay Mbappé, but knowing how Madrid operates and understanding their transfer policy, they won’t have a problem paying him.

“Real Madrid has relieved itself of two major salary burdens in recent years, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale. And then they’ve brought in players with not-so-high investments. Madrid has since had great profits, has been managed well since the pandemic, hasn’t lost money during that time, and has achieved significant reductions in players’ salaries. They can sign Mbappé. I don’t know what they’re going to pay him, but I think it will be considerably less than what PSG will pay.”

French football expert Jonathan Johnson recently highlighted that the Mbappé camp did their best to get the most out of Real Madrid to ensure the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner secured the best contract.

Johnson notes that the reports of someone from the player’s camp reportedly meeting with a Manchester City official might have been used as leverage in contract talks with the La Liga side.
