‘Back to My Best’ – Roma Is Reviving the Career of Former PSG Outcast

Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain transferred midfielder Leandro Paredes to AS Roma for a fee of approximately €2.5 million as the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner sought to revive his career.

More than halfway into the 2023-24 season, Paredes spoke to the media in Italy and noted his happiness. Furthermore, the 29-year-old feels that his form is returning to a level that he expects from himself that will allow him to be a mainstay on the Argentina national team.

“If my performance is clearly improving? Like I said, I’m happy,” Paredes said (h/t Le10Sport). “I’m getting back to my best level, and I’m trying to improve every day to make my contribution to the team, and I think we’re all doing it very well.”

Paredes has settled nicely into his post-PSG career and joins Lionel Messi to have found a place where he can continue to thrive. In a recent interview with ESPN, Neymar Jr. noted that Messi seems happy in Miami after leaving the French giants last summer.

It was time for PSG to hit the reset button on several veterans on the squad and move toward a young group. The best outcome for all is for the Parisians to build a team for Luis Enrique and the players who have left to succeed elsewhere.
