Roma Boss Jose Mourinho Shares Concerning Renato Sanches Injury News

Renato Sanches isn’t having an impressive start to his loan stint with AS Roma. The Portuguese midfielder was forced to exit the match against Sheriff Tiraspol.

According to reports, Sanches has suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh. As a result, Roma manager Jose Mourinho offered a concerning take on the midfielder who was supposed to use his loan stint to establish himself as a starter.

“Renato is still at risk of injury,” Mourinho told reporters. “It’s difficult to understand. Bayern and PSG didn’t understand why, and now we are trying to understand. He rested for three days, and now he got injured again.”

Roma paid a loan fee of €1 million this summer transfer window. Nonetheless, the loan move for Sanches contains a purchase obligation based on his playing time, which reveals details about the final transfer fee.

If the midfielder participates in 55 percent of the team’s matches while on loan, Roma must purchase him for €11 million. However, if Sanches plays in 75 percent of Roma’s games, the purchase obligation increases to €14 million.

Should Sanches battle injuries all season, then it’s likely that the Serie A side won’t be keeping the midfielder long-term.
