PSG Loanee Joins Bayern Munich Legend in This Champions League Stat

Xavi Simons continues to excel on loan with RB Leipzig. The Paris Saint-Germain loanee played 75 minutes in the 3-1 win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday at Red Bull Arena.

The 20-year-old registered one assist and a fantastic goal from outside the box. Nonetheless, this performance put Simons in an elite company. CBS Sports pointed out that Simons is the youngest Dutch player to score and assist in a UEFA Champions League match since former Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben accomplished this feat in 2003.

Simons has scored four goals and registered five assists in 13 matches in all competitions. This production has many wondering what the future holds for the youngster. He’s under contract with PSG after returning from PSV Eindhoven, but reporters would suggest other clubs are eyeing him.

If Kylian Mbappé decides to leave this summer, then the Ligue 1 side will have a suitable young replacement. Regardless, Simons continues to take strides, and PSG could benefit from his current form beginning next season.
